Polruan is a traditional waterside village situated on the east bank of the River Fowey. The Fowey estuary is well known for its safe anchorage and excellent sailing facilities. Fowey itself can be reached by car via the Ferry at nearby Bodinnick, or by regular passenger ferry running from the quay in Polruan. National Trust owned land surrounds the area and there are many scenic coastal walks to enjoy. Plymouth is approximately 40 miles away.
