Ripple Cottage is located in the ancient village of Polruan, set towards the top of Fore Street, and is within a 1/4 mile of the harbour and local village amenities. Parking is available at St Saviour's Hill within approximately a 500 yard drive from the cottage, but is a considerably shorter distance across the village on foot.
The accommodation itself is typical for a cottage of its age, with a lounge leading to a kitchen diner at the rear. From the rear kitchen door, the garden is accessed via a shared access pathway, just a short distance from the rear of the cottage. Upstairs there are two bedrooms and the main bathroom (shower room) is conveniently situated on this floor. The garden is of a surprising size, and stretches away from the rear of the terrace, ending with an elevated timber terrace to the rear which has created a very pleasant sitting out/barbecue area. The garden enjoys a sunny aspect, and keeps the sun for the vast majority of the day. Furthermore, some lovely glimpses of the Fowey Estuary can be enjoyed from the garden terrace.
From our office in Fowey, take the foot passenger ferry from Town Quay to Polruan. From the Quay in Polruan, proceed straight up the hill (Fore Street). Continue up this hill, and as the road begins to bear around to the left, Ripple Cottage (no.65) will be seen on your left.
Polruan is a traditional waterside village situated on the east bank of the River Fowey. The Fowey estuary is well known for its safe anchorage and excellent sailing facilities. Fowey itself can be reached by car via the Ferry at nearby Bodinnick, or by regular passenger ferry running from the quay in Polruan. National Trust owned land surrounds the area and there are many scenic coastal walks to enjoy. Plymouth is approximately 40 miles away. There are main line railway stations at Par, Lostwithiel and Bodmin. Polruan has shops, inns and a café, many trading all year round and catering for most every day requirements.
