Why Buy on the Fowey Estuary

Fowey is a bustling sailing town on the South Cornish coast, beautiful, historical and full of life.
It is said by many to be one of the best waterside towns in the UK to live in, with independent shops, restaurants and great sailing waters all adding to the normal everyday facilities.
There are creeks to explore, sandy beaches to laze on and many boats to adventure in.
Its busy in the summer with visitors, with the Sailing Regatta week in August seeing numbers reach their peak. In Winter too thaough, the town, whilst quieter is still thriving and welcomes many walkers and those wanting to stop and stare, and experience unique and individual shops.
Fowey is home to many locals who have lived here for generations, to many who have chosen to make it their home in recent years - lured by the very different way of life that it offers. There are many too, who invest in Fowey by owning a second home which they may decide to holiday let, long term let or keep for personal use to escape to whenever life allows. All add to the vibrancy and allow the town to be what is today.
Fowey has been home to and inspired great writers and artists over the years with Daphne Du Maurier, Sir Arthur Quiller Couch, Kenneth Grahame and Mabel Lucie Atwell being a few. A literary festival is held annually in Fowey every May to celebrate and remember.

“Why do I live in Fowey? On a summer’s day I love to pick up the children from school with a change of clothes and a picnic and head straight down to Readymoney Cove to make sandcastles, paddle and swim. It‘s such a treat to watch them laughing and playing as the sun goes down and such a comparison to commuting and sitting in traffic.“

“Pont is a wonderful place surrounded by National Trust land with glorious beaches, boats, and resident kingfishers – we fell in love with it from the minute we arrived. The people of Fowey and Polruan have been so welcoming and friendly and we look forward to spending many happy years in our cottage by the stream.“

“All I want to do is mess around in boats. My wife hates boats but really loves the beautiful Cornish countryside, the beaches, and the many places to visit.
We spent a year exploring Cornwall before reaching Fowey. When we discovered Fowey we knew we had found our home! The area has everything we could ask for, a great town with great shops, great pubs and lovely friendly people. The unexpected bonus – a truly great and lively social life too – nowhere better! “
